Singulair Sachets contain Montelukast.
Singulair help to Control and prevent symptoms caused by asthma, This medication can help decrease the number of times you need to use your quick relief inhaler.
When taken regularly, Montelukast helps to prevent the chest tightness, wheezing and breathlessness that is common in asthma.
It may also be used to prevent breathlessness that is triggered by exercise or physical exertion.
Montelukast is meant to be taken long-term. It is not meant for fast relief during acute asthma attacks.

Active ingredients:

Indications:
Singulair sachets used for:
• Singulair is used to treat your child's asthma and to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms during the day and at night.
• Singulair is used to treat patients between the ages of 6 months and 5 years who do not adequately control the severity of their asthma attacks with their usual medications and need additional treatment.
• Singulair may also be used as an alternative treatment to inhaled corticosteroids in patients aged 2 to 5 years who cannot use oral corticosteroids to treat their asthma.
• Singulair also helps prevent exercise-induced airways narrowing for patients 2 years of age and older.

How to use:
Do not open the sachet until ready to use
• Singulair Paediatric granules can be given either:
- directly in the mouth;
- OR mixed with a spoonful of cold or room temperature soft food (for example, applesauce, ice cream, carrots and rice).
• Mix all of the contents of the Singulair Paediatric granules into a spoonful of cold or room temperature soft food, taking care to see that the entire dose is mixed with the food.
• Be sure the child is given the entire spoonful of the granule/food mixture immediately (within 15 minutes).
IMPORTANT: Never store any granule/food mixture for use at a later time.
• Singulair Paediatric granules are not intended to be dissolved in liquid. However, your child
may take liquids after swallowing the Singulair Paediatric granules.
• Take Montelukast exactly as directed. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
• It is best taken in the evening.

Points of interest:
• Montelukast must be taken regularly for it to work well.
• Do not stop taking Singulair unless instructed by your doctor.
• Your condition may worsen if the medicine is stopped suddenly. Montelukast cannot relieve an acute asthma attack.
• You should continue to keep your "rescue" inhaler by your side at all times

Side effects of singulair:
• Dizziness.
• Headache.
• Stomach discomfort such as nausea.
• Indigestion or diarrhoea.
• Tiredness and flu-like symptoms.

Cautions:
• Inform your doctor if you suffer from liver disease or phenylketonuria (a condition where the body lacks an enzyme to break down the amino acid phenylalanine).

Interactions of singulair:
• If your asthma symptoms get worse when you take aspirin, avoid taking aspirin or other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) while you are taking montelukast.
