Coversyl 5 mg 30 Tabs For High Blood Pressure

Coversyl contain Perindopril.

Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II by blocking the activity of the converting enzyme. The inhibition of ACE will result in decreased concentrations of Angiotensin II which will then result in decreased vasoconstriction activity because Angiotensin II receptors are deactivated. It also results in decreased water retention because aldosterone production is terminated.

Active ingredients:
Perindopril

Indications:
Coversyl used for:
• Hypertension.
• Symptomatic heart failure.
• Prevention of cardiovascular mortality or nonfatal myocardial infarction in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

How to use:
Take Coversyl per as direction of the doctor.

Points of interest:
• Cough is commonly associated with ACE. An angiotensin-II receptor antagonist (ARB) is recommended to substitute this agent if a cough was indicated.
• Coversyl may cause dizziness. Get up from lying or sitting position gradually to avoid dizziness on standing. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Do not take potassium supplements while using this medication because of risk of potassium overload.

Side effects of Coversyl:
• Hypotension.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Cough.
• Hyperkalaemia.

Cautions:
• It may cause a fall in blood pressure, symptomatic hypotension is seen rarely in uncomplicated hypertensive patients. If hypotension occurs, the patient should be placed in the supine position and if necessary, should receive an IV infusion of sodium chloride (0.9%) solution.
• Additional lowering of systemic blood pressure may occur in patients with congestive heart failure.
• Contraindicated in pregnant women.
• Contraindicated in patients with acute kidney injury.

Interactions of Coversyl:
• Aliskiren: the concomitant use of perindopril with an aliskiren should be avoided.
• Angiotensin-II receptor antagonists: the risk of hyperkalemia increases when perindopril is given with angiotensin-II receptor antagonists.
• Ciclosporin: the risk of hyperkalemia is increased when perindopril is given with ciclosporin.
• Potassium-sparing diuretics: the risk of severe hyperkalemia (potentially lethal) is increased especially in conjunction with renal impairment when perindopril is given with potassium-sparing diuretics.
• Potassium salts: the risk of severe hyperkalemia is increased when perindopril is given with potassium salts.
